Does anyone know of a good program for recording audio from my line-in/mic on my sound card? I was completely astonished to see that kde doesn't come with a sound recording program (like sndrec32.exe thats been in windows since 95!) and emerge -s record only returns *1* result: cdrecord. I've heard good things about glame, but looks like its a gnome program and it wouldn't build for me, some problem with gtk or some such nonsense, I dunno, I hate gnome. :)

It's a little bit more than a recording program, but Audacity is cool. It's more aimed for multi-track mixing and editing, but it records well. I stumbled across it a while ago, found it useful, and accordingly made an ebuild. :D

Code:
# emerge audacity

Audacity is a nice little program. Great for simple recording and editing.

ok I've got audacity, looks like a nice program, but I'm at a loss. its just not recording anything. i chech in the preferences and it says my input device is /dev/dsp... is this the right device? what else could be the reason why its not working? in kmix its showing my mic-ion as the selected recording device. if it helps any i'm using the jp patch kernel which has alsa support built in. w/ an SB Live (emu10k1)
