Firefox: "Couldn't load XPCOM." [SOLVED]

amd64, after emerging (updating to) the newest version of mozilla-firefox-3.0.14 (together with net-libs/xulrunner-1.9.0.14) it does not want to run anymore, the error message (when started from xterm) is:

Couldn't load XPCOM.

Have you tried starting firefox in safe mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

Try dev-util/lafilefixer if you get build failures related to .la files

ok, I've run revdep-rebuild but as soon as dev-libs/nss has been rebuilt I ran firefox and it started successfully this time!
