Do you get that error on all pictures you try to view, or is it just that one?
Have you tried viewing it with another program (gimp, display)?

Try to save it somewhere and than open it from there. Sometims I have those problems as well, and this procedure resolves them.

Any pic from anywhere you try to open it? So that means that all gifs, jpegs and png graphics are totally unreadable on your machine?

What version of imlib do you have installed?

OK, so exactly what isn't working? jpegs? gifs? pngs? Can you open them from some programs and not others? Kind of hard to troubleshoot without having the proper information.

Or, I could offer a suggestion based on the troubleshooting information that you've already provided:

completely reinstall everything. :)

This is kuikshow's way of telling you that it cannot deal with the file. It is probably corrupt. Should not be a problem with imlib at all. It threw me off the first time I saw it too :)

Try opening with gimp or xv if you have them. Most likely, they will not open this file either.

installed imlib again:
>>> original instance of package unmerged safely.
>>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache...
>>> media-libs/imlib-1.9.14-r1 merged.

>>> Recording media-libs/imlib in "world" favorites file...

* Regenerating GNU info directory index...
* Processed 55 info files.

The prob persist too.....

That's kuickshow. I think we've already established that it doesn't work there. Have you tried any other programs? And if so, did it work?

As I mentioned above, if it happens only on this file, it is a problem with the file and not kuickshow or libpng. It happens on my box too if I try to view a corrupt image file. The error message box about imlib is a bit misleading, though technically accurate. Try viewing some other file that shows up correctly in your browser with kuickshow and see whether this happens.

Did you run kuickshow from the command line with a known "good" file? Does this work? If it still does not work, try running quickshow within strace and then see whether you can get some useful information out of it.

I apologize. :oops: I didn't mean to be rude, I just felt bad for the guy that kept asking the same question and didn't get an answer. I'd love to help if I could, but unfortunately I dont know how to fix your problem. Good luck though.

You obviously don't need any help since you aren't answering the questions people are asking you about the problem you're experiencing...

I've calmed down a bit since this morning, but you need to actually READ what people are asking you DArtagnan if you expect anyone to be able to help you diagnose the problem.

So, let me try once more:
