Hello, I have a problem - halt, reboot commands doesn't turn my PC off. It just stop daemons and I can watch screen with stopped services forever. Maybe I do something wrong with my kernel conf, but I have no idea what. I use kernel gentoo-sources-2.6.29-r5. Any ideas? thx

I haven't had a problem with ACPI power-down in a sufficiently long time to remember, but I think the shutdown process prints something like "System halted" or "Power down" once the system is in a 'safe to power down' state. Are you seeing such messages?

Also, knowing your hardware configuration will be handy.

Thanks Captain Newbie, I found older topic https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-769208.html and now I'm using patch from there and it works. It seems to be problem with ALSA modules unloading but I didn't know it.
