Hey

I was runnin on baselayout-2 with openRC-0.4.0... It worked like a charm on crypted root with dmcrypt init-script..

after the update of udev and openRC the whole system screwed up. I find out that init-script of udev was searching for an old shell-script named /lib/udev/shell-compat.sh....

to fix the error just remove in /etc/init.d/udev:

Code:
. /lib/udev/shell-compat.sh

and change to:

Code:
. /libudev/shell-compat-KV.sh
. /lib/udev/shell-compat-addon.sh

that fixes the problem of udev..

stay tuned.. its hard to get out of troubles, cause it seems, that this was not the only problem..

all in all the complete hardware-support is broken.. i cant get sound to work, wireless-lan driver + firmware won't start-up, cause of problems by loading the firmware (maybe related to udev)..

I have to recompile the kernel, to test, if the firmware-loading-bug was caused by udev... stupidly i excluded the driver-module, because hours ago i read about a driver for my card, which is emergeable over portage.. but ebuild has gone...

....

I don't even have such a line in /etc/init.d/udev (udev-141)
Code:
~> grep -ir "/lib/udev" /etc/init.d/udev*
/etc/init.d/udev:   /lib/udev/write_root_link_rule
/etc/init.d/udev:   . /lib/udev/rule_generator.functions
/etc/init.d/udev-dev-tarball:device_tarball=/lib/udev/state/devices.tar.bz2
/etc/init.d/udev-dev-tarball:      if [ -d /lib/udev/devices ]; then
/etc/init.d/udev-dev-tarball:         cd /lib/udev/devices
/etc/init.d/udev-mount:. /lib/udev/shell-compat-KV.sh
/etc/init.d/udev-mount:   if [ -d /lib/udev/devices ]; then
/etc/init.d/udev-mount:      cp -RPp /lib/udev/devices/* /dev 2>/dev/null
/etc/init.d/udev-postmount:   /lib/udev/move_tmp_persistent_rules.sh
Did you forget to do etc-update/dispatch-conf/cfg-update?
