After a lot of searching here and bugzilla I can't seem to find a solution to this issue. Here is the output of emerge:

I had a same problem, somebody already filed a bug: https://bugs.gentoo.org/265870, but it was closed due to missing data. Perhaps you can reopen it...

I followed this advice and it worked - basically you just have to patch the 0.8.2.ebuild file and it works: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=248293
