|
|
I have gentoo Linux 1.4 running under VMWare 4.0.1 Workstation with
2 network interfaces eth0 and eth1. Eth0 works very well. But eth1 make
trouble. After some hours of work the interface get slower with much
packet lost until the interface came down. Nothing works anymore.
After restarting the eth1 it works well for 6-8 hours and the game starts again.
Have anyone some Idea's. I have read everything in the vmware
section but i think it is a gentoo problem.
Thanks, Ati |

From your post it looks as though Your running Gentoo within a vmware session.
If this is a case, try & have a look at what the diferences are between eth0 & 1, since both should be the same, being virtualised & all.
when you have this problem within your vmware session, does the problem change/remain/disapear if you use the hosts hardware directly. EG try ifconfig and whatever using the host itself, when it does fail.
Im having to rethink my plans a little, cus vmware4 totally corrupts my usb2 hard disk contents, as it only virualises usb1, not usb2. thankfully it works on the host itself, so ill just need to use that for performing backups. Perhaps your fault is of a similar nature.
Either that or youve got some flaky hardware... |

Thanks for your reply.
The Host OS (Windows XP) have no problems with eth1. It appears only
within vmware.
I have no idea about this. |

Hi,
I've this problem too. My internal network connection starts to slow down and then stops. I can't bring it up anymore. |
