[SOLVED] Xorg-server - NO input devices

  • Quote

Post by soccrstar » Sun Apr 19, 2009 8:33 pm

Hello,

I'm having Issues.

I recently purchased a New motherboard (Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L) with a new CPU (Q8200). CPU was a steal at microcenter. I emerged xorg-server xf86-input-keyboard xf86-input-mouse and xf86-input-evdev and i've done it til I can't emerge anymore and I lose all inputs when I run xorg. it detects my mouse at /dev/input/mouse. I don't know why its not working. I even tried emerging an older version to no availability. Im at a lost.

Is there a command where I can see where my keyboard and mouse is actually located? so that I can maybe specify in the xorg.conf the mouse and keyboard?

any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

I miss my gentoo!!!

this is my Xorg.0.log file

I noticed that my keyboard and mouse is being disabled by AllowEmptyInput. How do I disable this?

I solved it!!!!

took some googling.

I added. Option "AllowEmptyInput" "false"
in the keyboard and mouse section.

which prevents the keyboard and mouse from being disabled. problem solved!!!

Hi, that's not the right way.

Your /etc/X11/xorg.conf should be like this :

Code: Select all

Section "ServerLayout"
  Identifier "X.org Configured"
  Screen 0 "Screen0"
EndSection

Section "Files"
  ModulePath "/usr/lib64/xorg/modules"
  FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/misc/"
  FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/TTF/"
  FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/OTF"
  FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/Type1/"
  FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/100dpi/"
  FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/75dpi/"
EndSection

Section "Module"
  Load "glx"
  Load "extmod"
  Load "wfb"
  Load "xtrap"
  Load "record"
  Load "dbe"
  Load "dri"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
  Identifier "Monitor0"
  VendorName "Monitor Vendor"
  ModelName "Monitor Model"
EndSection

Section "Device"
  Identifier "Card0"
  Driver "nvidia"
  VendorName "nVidia Corporation"
  BoardName "GeForce 8500 GT"
  BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
  Identifier "Screen0"
  Device "Card0"
  Monitor "Monitor0"
EndSection

You should read this too : http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-722498.html

For the record, can you post this :

Code: Select all

# emerge --info
# rc-update show
You need to have the hal use flag and also the hald deamon in the default level.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

I will try your recommendation in a bit.

atm i'm trying to fix my wireless which is not working. don't know what I did but its no longer showing on iwconfig even if I re-install the drivers :(

im assuming my fix is only a temp one.

Your /etc/X11/xorg.conf should be like this :

Code: Select all

Section "ServerLayout"
  Identifier "X.org Configured"
  Screen 0 "Screen0"
EndSection

Section "Files"
  ModulePath "/usr/lib64/xorg/modules"
  FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/misc/"
  FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/TTF/"
  FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/OTF"
  FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/Type1/"
  FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/100dpi/"
  FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/75dpi/"
EndSection

Section "Module"
  Load "glx"
  Load "extmod"
  Load "wfb"
  Load "xtrap"
  Load "record"
  Load "dbe"
  Load "dri"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
  Identifier "Monitor0"
  VendorName "Monitor Vendor"
  ModelName "Monitor Model"
EndSection

Section "Device"
  Identifier "Card0"
  Driver "nvidia"
  VendorName "nVidia Corporation"
  BoardName "GeForce 8500 GT"
  BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
  Identifier "Screen0"
  Device "Card0"
  Monitor "Monitor0"
EndSection
Tried the config file that you posted and surprisingly it works. 8O

Cool. using that config as I speak. I'm assuming when I specified Input devices in the config that was causing the malfunctions.

P.S.

I did get my wifi working and with dhcp. used wifi-radar, which surprisingly autostarts and autoconnects at startup. :D

I can now sleep in peace. next week i'll work on getting my sound and printer functioning.

thank you again!!!
