|
|
Yet another circular hoo-ha...
I haven't done a world update on this laptop for a while. As often happens, if you wait too long between world updates, weird shit happens. This time, it couldn't run java-config. Normally, I can fix that with python-updater, but running python-updater ends with:
| Code: |
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
Calculating dependencies... done!
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "=app-office/openoffice-2.4.1".
|
Very well. I started to upgrade Openoffice, which also says it can't run java-config. Running python-updater starts the circus all over again.
So how do I get out of this particular vicious circle? _________________ decibel Linux: https://decibellinux.org

The very annoying way, that I think may work,
would be: add '-p', look at the list and 'emerge -1'
in the order given. |

You lost me at "This time, it couldn't run java-config. Normally, I can fix that with python-updater".
How does python-updater relate to java-config?
If by "could not run" you meant you did not have java-config installed you can solve that by emerging dev-java/java-config
If you meant it failed in some other way I suggest you post the error message instead. |

I'm hitting this as well, but with some old kde-4.1 junk no longer in the tree.
Hagar: the reason python-updater fixes java-config is because java-config is python. _________________ iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAA

I just noticed it myself, java-config fails because the code is only available in python 2.5 which is no longer the default version.
I'm not sure how to fix you're dependency problem with openoffice, but remerging java-config manually will fix java-config.
$ emerge --oneshot java-config |
