Hi there. I have no clue how to play this disc:
http://www.amazon.com/David-Live-Bowie/dp/B0006PV4ZY/ref=pd_bbs_3?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1239533942&sr=8-3
It has a PCM 2.0 and DTS 5.1 audio tracks. Mplayer doesn't play it, smplayer freezes, only kaffeine manages to display the video and the DTS 5.1 audio track, but not the 2.0, which is just a random noise.
I generally would like to make it play with mplayer, here's my current output:
Code: |

You can play the video track(s), but you can't play dvd-a audio on linux. _________________ "Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves." - Abraham Lincoln

Umh what do you mean? I actually want to play the _video_ tracks, just like kaffeine does, but with mplayer. |

GWilliam, I tried this tool a long time ago, it works, but it is an authoring tool for DVD-Audio. AFAIK, you cannot extract an audio track from a DVD-Audio with it.
Maf, DVD-Audio is a completely different format from DVD-Video, capable of high quality audio, up to 24 bit/192 kHz. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD-Audio. Most players are not compatible with it. I don't know of any Linux software that can read DVD-Audio. The reason you are actually seeing/hearing something is that your DVD is probably an hybrid DVD-Audio/DVD-Video disk. You can just decode the DVD-Video part (under /VIDEO_TS) that probably includes the DTS 5.1 track, not the DVD-Audio one (under /AUDIO_TS).
The only way I can listen to DVD-Audio is with my Denon DVD-1930
I hope you guys prove me wrong and find me a DVD-Audio player for Linux! _________________ mdr13

Wow, you're right! vlc-1.1.4 supports .aob files, it works for me!

It would be even better if it could read DVD-Audio directly, with track numbers and so on... I know, I'm never happy _________________ mdr13
