Just updated my system. Now for some reason gnome-terminal started acting strangely. When I try to select text it unselects it as quickly as it can even though I still have the mouse button down. This basically means that it is quite impossible to select the hole screen or specified area to be copied. For example xterm still works as it should.
About the same problem is in Open Office. Except that the text seems selected but clipboard takes only the text that was selected after ~0.5 seconds later the selection started.
What is wrong whit these programs?
Edit: Seems that this is caused by glipper which wasn't updated. It has become unusable because when trying to select something from the gnome-terminal the history is full of unusable lines. So, I'm still after the question why and how to fix? |

Could you try a different mouse and see if there's a problem with your hardware (or otherwise verify e.g. in xev that it works correctly)? I've had such problems with broken mouse buttons in the past. |

Tried but it didn't help.
Konsole and Xterm work like they should.
I think this picture should explain the problem better:

This happens when I try to select the text "--hide-menubar". |
