How to put programs to Gnomes Applications-foot?

Just installed Gentoo with Gnome 2, and I have emerged som programs (love this emerge feature).
Wonder if there is a way to configure portage so I can access emerged programs via Gnomes application icon?

If not any way to do it manually?

Can't you just make links there?

In nautilus type: applications:/// and copy the launchers in there.
