I'm running into a weird issue on a Gentoo ~amd64 installation I am currently creating in a VMWare VM.

When I want to try to emerge mysql (either through emerge dev-db/mysql or virtual/mysql), the emerge fails with the following message:

Code:
hp-6730b-vm ~ # emerge -av dev-db/mysql

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

This seems to tell me that mysql conflicts with mysql-community (which I understand), but that mysql-community is at the same time trying to pull mysql in! I also don't understand what causes mysql-community to get pulled in in the first place.

This issue is about to drive me insane, so if anybody thinks they can rescue me, I would be eternally grateful.

Nevermind... found this issue registered as bug 258773 (probably made a typo when searching before opening this thread).

Masked mysql-community as a workaround.

Onwards and upwards...
