It had been a few months since doing an update to world on my system, and finally decided to do so. I ran into a few issues that I was able to get around by unmerging the offending package and then emerging them back in. I made the mistake of unmerging python (emerge -C python) which died badly part way through, but seemed to do enough to kill my python installation so that I can no longer emerge it back in (I didn't realize emerge depended on it). So now I'm left with trying to get python back onto my system. Does anyone have a suggestion for getting python emerged again? At this point the only option I can think of is to manually install python to a temporary dir and then try to have emerge use that when installing python. Is this really the only strategy to get it back? Any other ideas? _________________ "I got a fever! And the only prescription...is more cowbell!" ~ Christopher Walken |
