here is the result of emerge -u mozilla :
Code:
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) net-www/mozilla-1.4-r3 to /
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) mozilla-source-1.4.tar.bz2
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) enigmail-0.76.4.tar.gz
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) ipc-1.0.3.tar.gz
>>> Unpacking source...
>>> Unpacking mozilla-source-1.4.tar.bz2 to /var/tmp/portage/mozilla-1.4-r3/w

bzip2: Data integrity error when decompressing.
        Input file = /home/bservais/temp/gentoo/mozilla-source-1.4.tar.bz2, o
ut file = (stdout)
It is possible that the compressed file(s) have become corrupted.
You can use the -tvv option to test integrity of such files.

You can use the `bzip2recover' program to attempt to recover
data from undamaged sections of corrupted files.

tar: Fin prématurée (EOF) rencontrée dans l'archive.
tar: Fin prématurée (EOF) rencontrée dans l'archive.
tar: Erreur non récupérable: fin de l'exécution immédiate

!!! ERROR: net-www/mozilla-1.4-r3 failed.
!!! Function unpack, Line 294, Exitcode 2
!!! failure unpacking mozilla-source-1.4.tar.bz2

but when I try to unpack the source as a user, or even as root, then there ins't any problem....

I would really like to try to emerge it.... so does somebody knows what is happening here?

thanks

Silly question, but is /var full or nearly full? Mozilla is a pretty big package.

well, I have to admit, I didn't thought about that... but still it does not help. /var still has 847 Mb to go before it is full and even if mozilla is big, the uncompressed folder is "only" 250 Mb...

somebody has another idea?

Well, as a last resort you could try ebuild /usr/portage/net-www/mozilla/mozilla-1.4-r3.ebuild unpack, or unpack it manually into /var/tmp/portage/mozilla-1.4-r3/work/ and then do an ebuild /usr/portage/net-www/mozilla/mozilla-1.4-r3.ebuild merge, which should work. I'm at a loss as to why emerge won't unpack it properly, though.
