Strangness with nvaudio

Are any of you noticing some audities with this driver.
I have an asus a7n8x delux, an old one. I've got the driver working, however it seems to be quite flaky. I mostly use the spdif for audio, going through my stereo for some hella sound.
The flakyness I'm noticing is mostly when I first start up. I can't play an mpg movie with sound, right off the bat. I have to load xmms, play an mp3, close xmms and then mplayer with have sound. Crazzy, or just nvidia at work.
I'm using nvaudio with gnome 2.something
