Hi all,
I finally got a pc with an esata card and now I want to use my external hd via esata.
Problem: the kernel doesn't recognize it. I plug it in and dmesg says nothing (the harddisk works via USB just fine).
On the board is a (fake?)raid something called PDC42819, but I don't really know what this is or if it's got something to do with that.
What shall I try to get my hd working?
Thanks in advance,

AFAIK only AHCI supports hotplug of SATA devices (aka eSATA usage like USB storage).
So in the BIOS of your board you have to set the hardisk controller to use AHCI, not IDE emulation nor software RAID. And your kernel obviously has to support the AHCI driver. _________________ Video Encoding scripts collection | Project page |

Checked it in the kernel and changed it in the bios, still doesn't work.
So if anybody gets it working with this board, plz let me know.
