Not really Gentoo related. I did it with Gentoo though. ;)
I wasn't really satisfied with the available Metacity themes, so I hacked one together. See here:

This is my first theme for anything ever, so I would appreciate every comment, especially suggestions.

These are the things I'm not sure about yet:
- The border is quite thin and I don't want to make it thicker. But changing size is a pain with them. :/ If I get the chance I will do something like "grips" but I don't think it's possible yet with Metacity.
- The titlebar color is hardcoded. I could use the Gtk selection color but it looks better with this kind of blue. I wish it could be configured.

Please test this if you run Metacity:

Yes it does... Quite a bit. :/ Guess I liked the Win2k look. This is partly due to Metacity's button placement though which I cant change (I would when I could). No other feedback? :( Nothing wrong with it? Suggestions how to make it better?

hehe ;) ok, you asked for it ;)

good:
- application icon visible (i really like that, when u roll up windows, it helps a LOT)
- The gradient looks quite good
- button actions are clearly visible (userfriendly)

bad:
- the border color is too bright (eps. around the dark gradient)
- the buttons could look better
- italic font in title ;) harder to read
- contrast between active and inactive window is not very big, hard to distinguish

keep up the good work ! :)
