Hello All,

I have installed Gentoo in September of the last year from stage1+bootstrap. Since then I not once updated gcc/glibc/kernel. The average emerging time for xfree/mozilla-firefox was 1 hour. Several days ago I have reinstalled Gentoo from stage3 for x86-i386 (2004.1). Me has surprised, that time of emerging became twice more. I at once have re-emerged base packages (texinfo/getext/binutils/baselayout/zlib/gcc/glibc/) with CFLAGS/CHOST for my arch (CFLAGS="-O3 -march=pentium4 -funroll-loops -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"/ CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" for my PIV-1800Mhz), but it has not helped. Speed of emerge the same as at my another box with Celeron-900. Help me please to solve this problem and to return my old speed of emerging.

My HW: PIV-1800, 256 Ram, 30Gb

You could try emerge -e world........and rent some good movies. :)

I was curious and I done that:
fw02 root # emerge -ep system

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating system dependencies ...done!
