Are different version ALSA driver and libs compatible?

I have kernel 2.6.28-gentoo-r5 with ALSA 1.0.18rc3 built in, are alsa-lib/alsa-utils 1.0.19 compatible with it? I have a intel-hda sound card if that matters. Thanks
