I've got two keyboards : USB and the one my laptop. When i use the one on my laptop, you get this:
Code: |
Hi thiiss is a test to show me whaat my problem is. It''s not veryy bad.....
|
My keyboard behaves this way at the console, and while i try to login in gdm, and while using gnome. It's very hard to login when your password gets screwed up.
When i use the external usb keyboard i have no problem.
Before gentoo i had redhat and my keyboard worked ok. |

thats odd. you might want to try checking the affected keys by removing them form the keyboard and then replacing them. be careful while doing this, as you cant always get them back in (depending on keyboard maker) if its not that, it could be a protocol probem, you could have given your keyboard type as something other than it actually was. you might want ot try a genereic 101 key layout over whatever you have now, or if you are using that, you might want to try for the 104 key layout. if that doesnt work try hitting the keyboard really hard with a sharp pointy object. sometimes this will scare it into submission. _________________ Nine megs for the secretaries fair

See if it is your kernel config. Get the LiveCD and boot off it, then launch Nano and see if this problem occurs. Then you should be able to tell if it is the hardware or not. It doesn't look like it is, since you dobuled your "i"'s sometimes in your test and not all the time. You may want to also try a Knoppix cd to see if that works any better. I bet it has something to do with your kernel config. |

i guess it's a key de-bouncing problem. to get around, try uncommenting the Option "XkbDisable" line in the XF86Config file. |
