editor parameter info not showing

I have installed kdevelop but whenever I use either a built-in or self-made function/class and open my parenthesis, I don´t get any parameter info, I just get either an empty yellow box (when accessing class members from self-made classes, or nothing at all when using strlen() for example.
Is this normal or is it something I didnt install yet? I mean, I just can´t keep remembering everything for ever, can I? And when using new functions, I just dont have to look in its header file to look up the parameters it needs?

But if this is normal with kdevelop, is there any other compiler/editor that is listed in the portage tree?
