I just installed gentoo, kde, gnome, and enlightenment.
after I boot, if I don't log in as root, I cannot start kdm, or gdm, or startx to start enlightenment. If I log in as a user, and try to start kdm, or gdm, or xdm, it will just say "only root wants to start kdm", "only root wants to start xdm", etc.
Is this normal? This is ok with kde and gnome, since I have to log in again once those start, so I can just log in as a user. But what about enlightenment? if I start enlightenment with startx ( i added exec enlightenment to the .xinitrc file), it doesn't give me a login prompt....
Thanks!! |

Only root is allowed to start kdm, gmd, xdm etc. I start different window managers by (at the console text only prompt), as such:
xinit /etc/X11/Sessions/fooWM
where fooWM is the WM I want to start....
There should be small scripts for each WM you have installed in /etc/X11/Sessions/ dir... |
