It would be nice to include in the Desktop Configuration guide a warning against compiling the kernel with "HIGH" level security, since it prevents me from booting X.
Recompiling the kernel with "LOW" level security fixed the problem, although I wasted a lot of time trying to check other things first.
Maybe the warning should appear even in the Install docs somewhere.
The kernel help available for this option does not provide a strong enough warning against possible breakage for something as basic as xfree server.
Of course there may be some way of configuring xfree to work with highest level kernel security, and I would appreciate knowing about it if anyone can shed light here.
Thanks. |
