Compiz Fusion doesn't work under user, I have to execute this command as root for it to work:
compiz --replace ccp --loose-binding
and then it starts up, I followed this guide on how to set it up:
http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/Compiz-Fusion
I don't know if this applies to kde4 or not or if I have to add user to a certain group.
If someone knows how to start compiz fusion automatically for a user let me know thx. _________________ Gankfest™ (>")> ~*

I used compiz-fusion with KDE-3.5 ages ago, and no longer have any of it installed to use as referrence, but as best as i can recall, the trick for me was to export the KDEWM over-riding variable into the environment - that method is explained to some extent in the wiki...
For me, the compiz-start shell-script didn't work, so i took only the bits of it i needed for my hardware and created a new script that i called (for wont of something better) /usr/local/bin/compiz-fusion. I then created an entry in /etc/env.d/ , called something like 45-kdewm (don't remember exactly, sorry) which contained the line "KDEWM=/usr/local/bin/compiz-fusion"...
After an 'env-update' i could start a KDE-session with the desired window-manager...
...IF I'M REMEMBERING CORRECTLY... (BIG disclaimer needed )
It should then be possible to revert back to KWIN by commenting the line out of the file in /etc/env.d/ and env-updating again - you ought to be able to check with "echo $KDEWM" i'd have thought...
Of course i should also make it absolutely clear that i have no experience with KDE-4 whatsoever, so YMMV. _________________ "Anyone who goes to see a psychiatrist should have their head examined!" |
