emerge doesn't see there are newer packages available, eg.

emerge -s portage, gives me this

Code:

*  sys-apps/portage
      Latest version available: 2.0.48-r5
      Latest version installed: 2.0.48-r5
      Size of downloaded files: 222 kB
      Homepage:    http://www.gentoo.org
      Description: Portage ports system

However when I check under /usr/portage tree I see

Code:

portage-2.0.48-r5.ebuild
portage-2.0.48-r7.ebuild
portage-2.0.49_pre17.ebuild

I ran already emerge sync and emerge regen for a few times, I even deleted /usr/portage tree before but with no success.

I can emerge newer version by directly passing the name to emerge, eg.
emerge /usr/portage/sys-apps/portage/portage-2.0.49_pre17.ebuild -p

Code:

[ebuild    U ] sys-apps/portage-2.0.49_pre17 [2.0.48-r5]

However I would have to do it for every application, and this woudn't work with, eg. newest kde (3.1.3). cause I get

Code:

Calculating dependencies \
!!! all ebuilds that could satisfy "=kde-base/kdelibs-3.1.3*" have been masked.
!!!    (dependency required by "kde-base/kdebase-3.1.3" [ebuild])

!!! Error calculating dependencies. Please correct.

using ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86", also won't help.

So what is wrong here? Is there some command to fix it, or my gentoo installation is screwed up?

TIA
