How can I tell, (if possible) what version of GCC or any compiler for that matter, was used to create a particular binary?

The version of libc it links may give you a range.

But unless unless it was compiled with debug information, there is no way (that I know). It is supposed to be that way.
A compiler isn't supposed to leave a lot of fingerprints.

With gcc it's not too difficult, even without debug information.

Moved from Off the Wall to Duplicate Threads.

See GCC queries: identify versions and compiler flags used.
