emerge grip and id3v2 fails - errormsg's

trying to emerge grip, i have id3-r1 installed (the newest, also tried re-emerging it, etc) - i get this error:

trying to emerge id3v2 gives me this error:

is anyone besides me experiencing this? i'm using a 100% updated gentoo 1.2 installation, with gcc 2.95.3-r7 (with all updates, no updates available when doing emerge --update world).
