|
|
Hi,
I just yesterday did a sync and emerged world but I don't see Virtual Box working ! I used to run it as 'VirtualBox' using root account. I remember I agreed to to a license from Sun PUEL or something when I did emerge world yesterday but now Virtual-Box binary is missing from system.
| Code: |
VirtualBox
-su: /usr/bin/VirtualBox: No such file or directory |
Does anyone know where did it go or binary name is changed ?
Thanks
[SOLVED]

Binary is still the same, working fine here.
Are you using app-emulation/virtualbox-ose or app-emulation/virtualbox-bin ? |

I was using **-bin and it was working fine but I don't know how the BirtualBox binary vanished. and even the package was showed as not installed while I never uninstalled VirtualBox-bin . I reinstalled virtualbox-bin and everything is okay !
Thanks for replying !! |

| Do you have -qt3 in your make.conf? I proposed some time ago that a qt3 flag was added to virtualbox for those (like me) who don't use the qt interface. And it was done in 1.6.6. |

weird VirtualBox is not under /opt or only the -bin version is it there?
I will check the qr flag, because i use gnome i have -qt in make.conf and virtualbox looks really bad. |

For the -bin version, the binary will be missing if the "headless" use flag is enabled.
For the -ose version, the binary will be missing if either the "headless" use flag is enabled or the "qt3" use flag is disabled. |

Thanks
Installed versions: 1.6.4(13:16:40 09/10/0 (additions -headless -sdk -vboxwebsrv)
is working. |

Similar problem with version 2.0.2:
dummy@hollywood ~ $ VirtualBox
/usr/bin/VirtualBox: line 83: /opt/VirtualBox/VirtualBox: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/VirtualBox: line 83: exec: /opt/VirtualBox/VirtualBox: cannot execute: No such file or directory
There is no /opt/VirtualBox directory anymore.
[ebuild R ] app-emulation/virtualbox-ose-2.0.2 USE="additions alsa python qt4 -headless -pulseaudio -sdk" 0 kB
Strange - will downgrade now. _________________ Nothing makes a person more productive than the last minute. |

Sorry to resurrect an old post but I have encountered the same issue:
| Code: | /opt/bin/VBoxManage: line 87: /opt/VirtualBox/VBoxManage: No such file or directory
/opt/bin/VBoxManage: line 87: /opt/VirtualBox/VBoxManage: Success
|
I have re-emerged virtualbox-bin and virtualbox-modules (both version 3.1.6) with -headless -vboxwebsrv USE flag as suggested by Genone in this thread but it did not work. Same issue when downgrading to 3.1.4.
I've checked the paths in /opt/bin/VBoxManage and they seem ok. The install dir in /etc/vbox/vbox.conf is pointing to /opt/VirtualBox.
Running /opt/VirtualBox/VBoxManage gives this output:
| Code: | | bash: /opt/VirtualBox/VBoxManage: No such file or directory |
For any reason the binary seems not to be found despite the ":Success" output.
Any ideas? _________________ .: Free your mind and your ass will follow :. |

Downgrading to 3.0.12 and rebooting (who knows) did not solve the problem, I am still getting:
| Code: | #VBoxManage
/opt/bin/VBoxManage: line 87: /opt/VirtualBox/VBoxManage: No such file or directory
/opt/bin/VBoxManage: line 87: /opt/VirtualBox/VBoxManage: Success
|
I think it's time to file a bug. _________________ .: Free your mind and your ass will follow :. |

There's been quite a few views over the last days but unfortunately no reply. Either this is an exotic bug or no one has a clue about a possible solution. Anyway, I thought I'd bump this one by linking to the bug I filed here https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=318557.

If there is any solution it'll probably be posted there first. _________________ .: Free your mind and your ass will follow :. |
