You have to post which package is giving you that message. We can't magically figure it out just with that output. |

He's got a subject line. I think he's found out that paludis is marked testing. _________________ My emerge --info

Permissions on /usr/portage and /var/tmp/portage are 0777, paludisbuild:paludisbuild are the owner:group on both paths as well.
Any ideas? |

Who's the owner of /var/tmp/paludis and /var/paludis (if they exist at all)? |

I actually had to give up on trying to fix this and just reinstalled. Spent less time reinstalling than I did trying to debug.
Thanks though. |

I have a weird problem; paludis does not want to do anything anymore. E.g., if I want to perform an upgrade:
Code: |

|
Of course, paludis does not find the corresponding profile, as it has been removed. I have tried multiple resyncs of all repos, to no avail. Can anyone tell me how to make paludis work again?
Thanks in advance

If indeed that profile has been removed, then maybe you should update the profile-info in the conf.file of that repo (gentoo)?
Synching doesn't affect this, afaik; you need to make the change "manually".
Eg. fire up [insert favourite editor here]; edit the $paludis-conf/repositories/gentoo.conf file; change the line containing "/usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/amd64/2006.1" into something appropriate. |

Thx, that did the trick. I was not aware of that the profile is chosen manually there. _________________ And as in uffish thought he stood/The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame/Came whiffling through the tulgey wood/And burbled as it came! |

Some time ago, I already set the system profile to 2008.0 via eselect profile. The problem here is, as krisse correctly explained, that the configuration file $paludis-conf/repositories/gentoo.conf for the gentoo repository explicitly contained the entry /usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/amd64/2006.1 pointing to a profile which did not exist anymore. Eselect profile does not seem to touch that. _________________ And as in uffish thought he stood/The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame/Came whiffling through the tulgey wood/And burbled as it came! |

Does anyone have a script to convert portage sets to paludis sets? I'd like to update my kde-testing but they haven't created the 4.2 sets yet. _________________ My emerge --info

Id' like to know how I can install mplayer with the dvdnav use flag enabled. I read that using emerge, you need to edit package.use.mask but I cannot find anything similar for paludis. |

First, add the dvdnav useflag in your /etc/paludis/use.conf :
Code: | media-video/mplayer dvdnav (and all the other useflags you need) |
Then try a paludis -pi mplayer, which for me gives :
Code: | These packages will be installed:
* media-video/mplayer [R 1.0_rc2_p28058-r1] <target>
X a52 aac alsa ass dvd encode mad mmx mp3 quicktime theora truetype vorbis xscreensaver xv aalib -arts -cpudetection -custom-cflags -custom-cpuopts fbcon gif gtk jpeg -libcaca -md5sum png -pnm -pvr rar -samba 3dnow -3dnowext (-altivec) -amrnb -amrwb -bidi -bindist -bl -cddb -cdio -cdparanoia -debug -dga -dirac directfb -doc -dts -dv dvb (-dvdnav) -dxr3 -enca esd ftp -ggi iconv -ipv6 -jack -joystick -ladspa -lirc live -lzo mmxext -mng -mp2 musepack -nas -nemesi -openal opengl oss -pulseaudio -radio (-real) -rtc -schroedinger sdl -speex sse sse2 ssse3 svga -teletext -tga unicode -v4l -v4l2 -vidix win32codecs -x264 -xanim -xinerama xvid xvmc -zoran VIDEO_CARDS: -mga -s3virge -tdfx vesa build_options: -optional_tests split strip |
Well, as you can see the dvdnav is between brackets for me, meaning that if I would like to use it, I would have to use another profile. But happily it is not the case _________________ Linux toshibath 2.6.26-gentoo-r4 i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T5500 @ 1.66GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux powered by enlightenment DR17 & paludis

Hello, I have a little problem using paludis since the release of openrc-4.0. This last version needs a masked version of udev and seems quite buggy, whereas previous version weren't. As a consequence, I added sys-apps/openrc:4.0 to my /etc/paludis/package_mask.conf.
However, while doing a paludis -pi world I still got :

For openrc mask:
Try /etc/paludis/package_mask.conf
Also, 4.0 doesn't seem to be slotted, so it would be >=sys-apps/openrc-0.4.0
As for dvdnav in mplayer: Which profile would I need to use to get this ? I am using the default 200.8 x86 profile. |

It is not about which profile you use, I noticed that lately devs are masking some packages in strange ways, by masking package together with use flag . On paludis mailing list I found that similar functionality like package.use.mask is not implemented because that is not user choice at all. Usually flag was masked by profile when there is a fact that it will never work, on some other arch like arm or sparc for example but never like this. To get binary real codecs (not that I need them anymore but...) you need to unmask real use flag, now this with dvdnav... |

or use xine, it works perfectly too
About my openrc problem : it is /etc/paludis/package_mask.conf I edited and not /etc/paludis/package.mask.conf.
sorry for the mistake, I edited my previous post concerning this. But, still this problem remains. _________________ Linux toshibath 2.6.26-gentoo-r4 i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T5500 @ 1.66GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux powered by enlightenment DR17 & paludis |

the thing is that my profile now is the 2008.0 as shown by the eselect profile show:
# eselect profile show
Current make.profile symlink:
/usr/portage/profiles/default/linux/amd64/2008.0
the /etc/profile links the the default amd64 2008.0 profile, but i find out this annoying warning as the profile i'm currently using is not the one indicated by my /etc/profile.
i also have another issue since installing the new bashcompletion package: i have to manually do source /etc/profile everytime i login into the terminal. maybe the 2 things are related in some way?!
the other problem i have is a warning about paludis-extras overlay, that i've been using for some time without issues (i haven't removed the working packages for ages) and now it gives out the warning that it's code it's really buggy. does anyone have the same issues?! |

1. As far as I know, Paludis doesn't use the profile symlink, you have to edit /etc/paludis/repositories/gentoo.conf instead.
2. I had to put the following into /root/.bashrc
Code: |
if [ -f /etc/profile.d/bash-completion ]; then
source /etc/profile.d/bash-completion
fi
|
3. This seems to be normal for newer paludis versions |

I'm doing stage0 install now. I've specified root=/mnt/gentoo in specpath.conf. While most of installation goes smoothly, I've encountered some issues like with x11-proto/glproto package. Symlinks made at the installation of this package linked to /mnt/gentoo/usr/include instead of /usr/include.
I'm not sure wheter this issue is ebuild's or paludis' problem. |
