has anyone got acpi successfully working on an eMachines M5305? I've tried compiling acpi into the kernel and as modules but the fan still stays on constantly.
Any suggestions on how to proceed? I'm using the 2.4.21-pfeifer-r1_pre4 kernel and have acpi4linux as a USE flag.
The basic info (like temperature) is reported but if I use the battstat applet, my keyboard and mouse will lock up after a few minutes. It does however detect when I remove power to the laptop.
All I really want/need is the fan work properly and have some sort of battery notification

You can try different source distributions or versions. Otherwise if the BIOS supports APM, you could try that instead of ACPI, but newer stuff doesn't always support APM. |
