hi all
i have volumes listed on file /etc/fstab theses volumes doesn't apear on computer:// or desktop
when i remove them from fstab they appear but i must put them in fstab due to some bindings
FSTAB Contents:
Code:

# NOTE: If your BOOT partition is ReiserFS, add the notail option to opts.
#/dev/sda1      /boot      ext2      noauto,noatime   1 2
/dev/sda1      /      ext3      noatime      0 1
/dev/sda7      none      swap      sw      0 0
/dev/cdrom      /mnt/cdrom   auto      noauto,ro,user   0 0
#/dev/fd0      /mnt/floppy   auto      noauto      0 0

# glibc 2.2 and above expects tmpfs to be mounted at /dev/shm for
# POSIX shared memory (shm_open, shm_unlink).
# (tmpfs is a dynamically expandable/shrinkable ramdisk, and will
#  use almost no memory if not populated with files)
shm         /dev/shm   tmpfs      nodev,nosuid,noexec   0 0

## Custom Mount Points
/dev/sda5      /mnt/sda5   ext3      defaults,auto,exec,user0 0
/dev/sda6      /mnt/sda6   ext3      defaults,auto,exec,user0 0

###bind mounts
/mnt/sda5/Sources/Linux/gentoo-bases/GentooFiles/usr/portage /usr/portage none bind,user 0 0
/mnt/sda6//Proj/PHP/ /var/www/localhost/htdocs/Proj none bind,user 0 0

gnomevfs-ls output :
Code:

ahmed@kiko ~ $ gnomevfs-ls computer://

Code:

/dev/sda6      /mnt/sda6   ext3      defaults,auto,exec,user0 0

Your missing a space between the end of user and 0.

Although i doubt thats the problem. Have you tried digging through gconf to see if theres a way to enable icons for fstab entries, although if there is expect to get icons for *all* your fstab entries id imagine.

I believe he was showing you your error, not trying to correct it. And he's right. you need to have a space between user and 0

This line:
Code:
## Custom Mount Points
/dev/sda5      /mnt/sda5   ext3      defaults,auto,exec,user0 0
/dev/sda6      /mnt/sda6   ext3      defaults,auto,exec,user0 0

should be:
Code:
## Custom Mount Points
/dev/sda5      /mnt/sda5   ext3      defaults,auto,exec,user 0 0
/dev/sda6      /mnt/sda6   ext3      defaults,auto,exec,user 0 0

While you're at it, if you're expecting automounting of your CDROM drive in X, you need to get the declaration of it out of your /etc/fstab.

Blessed be!
Pappy

I really don't know what to say but my fstab file is correct
The volume s are mounted correctely the problem in gnome or nautilus !
if there isn't a SPACE the volume can't be mounted
I have made it BIG Tabs But no use
now it's like this
----------------------------
Code:
# NOTE: If your BOOT partition is ReiserFS, add the notail option to opts.
#/dev/sda1      /boot      ext2      noauto,noatime   1 2
/dev/sda1      /      ext3      noatime         0    1
/dev/sda7   none   swap   sw         0    0
/dev/cdrom   /mnt/cdrom   auto   noauto,ro,user   0   0
#/dev/fd0      /mnt/floppy   auto      noauto      0 0

# glibc 2.2 and above expects tmpfs to be mounted at /dev/shm for
# POSIX shared memory (shm_open, shm_unlink).
# (tmpfs is a dynamically expandable/shrinkable ramdisk, and will
#  use almost no memory if not populated with files)
shm   /dev/shm   tmpfs   nodev,nosuid,noexec   0   0

## Custom Mount Points
/dev/sda5   /mnt/sda5   ext3   defaults,auto,exec,user      0   0
/dev/sda6   /mnt/sda6   ext3   defaults,auto,exec,user      0   0

###bind mounts
/mnt/sda5/Sources/Linux/gentoo-bases/GentooFiles/usr/portage   /usr/portage   none   bind,user   0 0
/mnt/sda6//Proj/PHP/   /var/www/localhost/htdocs/Proj   none   bind,user   0 0

what do you intend to do with argument/option user? make it accessible to the user?
If so, you don't need it. You just need to to set the permissions correctly while the partition is mounted.

make it user mountable?
IIRC user needs a argument, of which users should be able to mount it. I all users should be able to mount it, just use users.

just my .02$

well nothing happened
what is your gnome version ?
Code:

ahmed@kiko ~ $ emerge  -p gnome nautilus
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild   R   ] gnome-base/nautilus-2.22.5.1  USE="X beagle gnome -debug -tracker" 0 kB
[ebuild   R   ] gnome-base/gnome-2.22.3  USE="cdr cups dvdr mono -accessibility -esd -ldap" 0 kB

and i hope any one know any thing about the results from gnomevfs-ls
thanks
