I have open office-bin version 2.4.1. The problem appeared in 2.4.0 as well. The problem is that when I open first time, it launches the program but if I try to open a document, it just freezes, no complete margins. When I try to close it from the X button it doesn't close. I have to use
Code:
killall soffice

Weird enough after opening 2nd time, I can open the files and it launches very fast, I can see the margins with the up and down elevator. I had this problem with version 2.4.0 and even a version before.

What could be the reason for that?

Same problem here.
According to strace, it hangs on a futex.
I also deleted ~/.ooo*/ . But the problem remains.

I have no further ideas :(

Thank you, anyway. Maybe I will report a bug to openoffice.

I recompiled it with "+gnome -kde -java" and started python-updater, now
it works again. :)

Unfortunately it doesn't work for me. ;-(

Do you use openoffice-bin? I am considering to install the regular openoffice.

I emerged world and I see that during gtk update it is mentioned
Code:
Applying gtk+-2.12.0-openoffice-freeze-workaround.patch ...

So, this might have been the problem. Will try later open office and see if this was the problem.
