OK, the fonts work now.. but when using anti-alias in fluxbox the fonts don't actually get any bigger. Also, for some odd reason my mouse pointer changed after installing the new fonts.... It 's now black and no longer has a tail

Hmm the mouse thing I can't help you with, but the fonts I can. The artwiz fonts are bitmapped (I don't know if they technically are but it gets the point across). So basically they are one size only. I think they are supposed to be a set of fonts that are cool and readable for same sizes, so small is the point.

Yeah, I kind of figured that they were only one size. Aleczapka just had my hopes up when he said you can use them anti alias :). Anyhow, I forgot to say : Thank you aLEczapKA for your work on these fonts! I would also like to say thanks for the SID fluxbox themes, they are great. I didn't realize you did those until I opened one up in emacs the other day.

Yeah, the fonts are very nice. I still use them for fluxbox. :) Just wish I could use them in GTK2 apps too.

Have you submitted an ebuild for your modified package?

----------------

EDIT: Someone named Alex (you?) has submitted an ebuild using your modified package:

https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25381

You have to run "fc-cache -fv" yourself -- I think the "-f" for forcing is important, because artwiz is a subdirectory of the font directory in the processing path.

I've just about lost the last shreds of my sanity. I got the artwiz fonts to work no problem at all, I followed the new README directions, edited XF86Config and /etc/fonts/local.conf. My problem is that half of the fonts will NOT display the ~ character in QT or GTK2 apps. I can set GTK2 (using switch2) and KDE (using kcontrol) to use all the artwiz fonts, no problem. They all show up fine too, no problem. Except for the ~. That's the ONLY character that doesn't display, I tried just about every other character and they all show up fine; it just displays nothing instead of showing a ~. It doesn't even show a blank little ASCII box, it just doesn't display any character at all. If I hit backspace, it "deletes" the mystical invisible ~, but again, nothing shows on the screen.

you're right, didn't notice that before - I try to fix it.

Well it seems that, snap at least, the ~ works in someplaces but not others. For me the ~ displays in the titlebars of applications, using bb for my wm, but ~ wont display in xchat2 for example. So perhaps it depends on what font backend the application is using.

Hah. I got it working by not using the artwiz collection in portage. I downloaded it from source-forge and plopped them in $HOME/.fonts, mkfontdir, mkfontscale, fc-cache - then restarted X.

Works like a charm now.
