I have a Sierra Wireless USB device to connect to the Internet. I have created an initscript to start and stop the Internet connection, which works properly. How can I get this service to start automatically whenever I plug it in or start the computer with it attached?

ifplugd might be able to help, but I'm not sure if it will work with your custom init scripts.

The USB device shows up as /dev/ttyUSB0 when I plug it in, and then the initscript starts a PPP session on that port; it has nothing to do with the networking system until after the initscript is already started. Unfortunately, this means that it doesn't generate the events that ifplugd uses.
