Hello forum,

I finally got jackd and fluidsynth to play midi in realtime in the terminal window. The GUI versions produced noise.

To start Jack I use this command: jackd -R -dalsa

To start Fluidsynth I use this command (from searching the Internet): fluidsynth -a jack -m alsa_seq -j -r48000. (I have to specify the -r48000 so the sample rate will match jackd's sample rate)

But my question would be "What is the -j for in the fluidsynth command? It is definitely needed or else I will get no sound. It is not listed in the man pages for fluidsynth.

Thanks if you can satisfy my courosity,
Roy
