SOLVED (needed user to be in wheel group)

Sorry, I had to double post this one... got diddly for replies in post elsewhere.

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=151291&highlight=

Still cannot log a console in as root when logged in as a user (using kde 3.2.1 cvs, kdm login manager). I get this same behavior in the newest cvs install. There is no way anyone else is getting this, but no one has confirmed or denied.

Any help would be much appreciated!

PS: alinv, Links open in same tab and window here. On menu bar, Settings -> Configure Konquerer does have some options for setting how links open.

It turned out that the default behaviour for embedding text/html was to open it in a separate viewer. I don't know how it got that way and why it didn't show until now :?

(well this may be asked sereval times, but...)

how serious is this bug? Should I do it anayway? What will happen if I do so?

All I want is to get back drag'n drop of links in konqueror...The most missed feature in KDE 3.2.1 for me ;-)

Is it fetching the tarball or the md5?

I am having problems with KGPG and GPGCONF (kontact -> security)
the problem seems to be traced to a missing lib: libpisock.so.8

Hey, I don't know if you guys already know about this, but, khtml quietly implemented the find-as-you-type feature around 10 days back. It's not going to come up before kde-3.3, but, thanks to larryboy we have it with us now. just hit / (in konqi or kmail or any app that uses khtml) and type to find in the page. It still has a lot of wrinkles to be smoothen.

For me this feature and the pop-up blockers were the two things that forced me to use firefox or mozilla. Now, I am glad that I have them both in konqi now.

I would like to point out that compiling qt with -dlopen-opengl flag creates problems with missing libs when trying to compile programs like kgpg, SIM, digikam... Please compile it without that flag.

Also, anyone can tell me what program generates the file "gpgconf" ? Kontact reports it missing when entering Security in settings.

Thank you,
Alex.

Hey all. I just wanted to let you know that I uploaded the bootsplash theme I mentioned a while back. You can download it here.

Today was my day to fiddle with stuff. I took whole new steps in attempting to break my system. I am now using reiser4. It feels great knowing all my data is just a bug away from oblivion. If you have the time, space, and guts I reccomend trying it. I moved 1 gig of data from a reiser3 partition to /dev/null in 87 seconds. With reiser4 it only took 33 seconds.

BTW I should have a new build out tomorrow. (Assuming my filesystem doesn't crash :-))

cheers eh!

Has anybody else downloaded anything from this server today? I'm getting a consistent 80kbps around speed .. usually I reach near 300kbps. Is it my connection or server slow? If few others are getting slow connection sppeds then please let me know .. it might be time to call the hosting company.

nice images :) Will try them as soon as my firefox cvs build is finished
BTW you do you have a silent image to go with it? I think I can take one of these images use the configs from the default or gentoo theme and set it up as a silent jpeg but just thought you might already have some nice silent image to go with it :)

but you won't KNOW that you have been ignored untill the next release

To be honest I am a little hesitant to remove the opengl flag. I don't need it but others might.

Does anyone need/want this flag?

It is too late for this release but if no one speaks up maybe next. Unless there is some reason you can't (proxy) you could compile qt yoursellf. It isn't that big.

After my unsucessfull atempt at killing my computer by switching to reiser4, I tried again. This time I attmpted to remove xfree from my computer in favor or xorg-x11. I was sucessfull!!! My computer is now officially dead. OK thats not true it is only xless. I actually use KP's xserver. However, it needs the xlibs from xfree. I uninstalled Xfree in order to install xorg-x11. However, xorg-x11 wouldn't install. OK back to XFree ... which also wouldn't install. Lovely! At any rate I am trying to clean up this mess. Builds may be awhile folks.

hehe I was backing up my xfree 4.4.0 installation and was going to remove it and install xorg-x11 but then saw your message. Gonna see if I'm lucky or not today :)

That's why I keep binary packages, not for everything, but for important stuff.
If you are interested in a binary package for xfree (4.3.0-r3 built for p4), I can make it available for download.

Hey all!

Soon after my catastrophic software failure I realized that this wasn't going to satisfy my itch to fiddle. Which is why God rewarded me with catastrophic HARDWARE failure! ie my motherboard stopped working even before I finished fixing xfree.

I have my hardware working again now back to software.

BTW, as a result of the above don't count on builds in the next couple of days.
