Hi Everyone,
I followed "HOWTO e17" wiki and got it going. The question is there a way to change the font size? Fonts dialog in Configuration doesn't seem to apply the font size I choose.

Thanks!

In the advanced interface toggle the hinting selection to something else and apply, then change it back.

Maybe...

Well, trying to emerge ecore for E17, I've got something like this:
Code:

First thing would be emerging evas first, since the error basicly says "evas doesn't know what this VALGRIND_MAKE_READABLE thing is". Mostly these errors will go away if you reemerge the complaining package.

Well, you see, I compiled evas just before ecore. So reemerging evas (I've done it) changes nothing.

Moved from Desktop Environments to Unsupported Software.

Not in the tree, but in an overlay.

Same problem here.

Code:
/usr/lib/libevas.so.1: undefined reference to `VALGRIND_MAKE_READABLE'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[3]: *** [ecore_config] Fehler 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/x11-libs/ecore-0.9.9.041/work/ecore-0.9.9.041/src/bin'
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Fehler 1

evas was merged directly before ecore. Any ideas?

Not really about E17 WM... I was trying to do some stuffs with edje_editor, when I realized that I cannot set it to "repeat" an image - it always strech it.
There is another editor? Or I should create/edit things mannually?? :S
There is a working viewer?

Yes, that happens occasionally with itask-ng (for several months in my case). I was never able to get a good backtrace so I never submitted a bug report. I simply stopped using it.
I do try it out once in a while to check it out. :P

I finally obtained a good backtrace and submitted it. This issue seems fixed now:

I succesfully installed entrance and e17, seems to work quite well, but I have a problem with my keyboard:
the letter " g " can't be typed, all the others work fine, it is not the keyboard itself, because it's working fine under kde, also when I use caps, the "G" works also without any problem.
Rather strane to me, anyone has a clue where to look?

I have the same issue, but I don't have a clue as well.

Never had this problem. Maybe you can check if the 'g' key has been bound to something? Configuration->Keyboard&mouse -> Keybindings.

I wonder if it has something to do with non-English locales?

By the way, what is the current recommended way to build/install E17? It's been a year or two since I last messed with it, and I know that the preferred methods sometimes change.

Try temporarily setting your locale to "C" or "POSIX" and see if the behavior persists.

Very strange. I think that I'll wait a few more weeks before trying E17 again... ;)

The method is still to compile from cvs. You will need to use layman -a enlightenment to get the cvs ebuilds. I am not sure though if the order of compilation is correct if you simply do a normal emerge -a e.

I am using e almost continuously for several years now :) Only occasionally I use KDE to get the integrated desktop feel, but then e seems much better as a window manager than KDE. At present, I really like and enjoy the following two pluses of e17:
1. tiling on demand and on the specific desktop required, through the tiling module
2. "slide pointer to new window" feature

Back to Gentoo and E17 again after a long involuntary break. Is anyone else having problems with e crashing when loading and unloading modules to a shelf?

And another thing. I really dislike stalonetray and trayer but itask-ng is masked by corruption. it seems the digest is wrong. Can i safely redigst and use it or is that asking for trouble?

mmm, sometimes yes. For me it has been more common when adding gadgets to the desktop.

If it's masked by corruption then the ebuild is probably hosed. Maybe delete the ebuild before you sync the overlay just for good measure.

Welcome Back. :)

hmm nope, that wasn't it. I found that my layman had crossed that critical version so it only updated after changing the directory and refetching all the overlays anyway and the digest is now different but still wrong :(. I'll just try digesting by hand and seeing if that works. I'll report back.

Is anyone having trouble with forecasts module? After working fine for months showing temp/forecast, it stopped displaying data a few days ago. I haven't recompiled e17 for ~3-4 months.

I had upgraded glib/gtk+ wondering if that had anything to do w/it so recompiled (only) forecasts module but nothing.

I thought maybe the yahoo forecasts code was changed/invalidated but when I visit their site the same code is still showing in the url (even the default forecasts weather code doesn't bring anything up anymore).

I looked at a couple e17 modules cvs repositories but looks to me like nothing has been checked in < ~month.
