So, When I use the live cd, links can show images and all that stuff and make browsing much easier with non-text friendly sites (and also the web based configuration front ends like cups work a little better).
So what do I need to get that to work on my systems without X?
A reference to links doc that would be helpful, would be helpful.
Thanks loads |

If I remember correctly, you just need to build it with either the directfb or svga USE flags enabled. Then you have to start it with "links -g". |

Sweet, I never even knew you could do that with links... Learn something new here every day. |

The mouse portion is not working with GPM active
The links window appears to have a mouse at the center of the screen, but when I flip back to console 1 (it uses console 7), gpm works fine. However, the mouse does not work in the links screen. |

OK, so now I have links working reasonably well with gpm and the graphical environment using framebuffer driver.
But what I really would like to be able to do is select tect from the sites and copy them to control files from sites such as Gentoo wiki and the forums and the handbook.
I am able to select text but not able to copy the text to GPM's clipboard to later paste into another console window.
An alternative solution would be for me to create text files on a wiki that could be downloaded to the local drive and open with nano, but that would really make the whole setup time consuming. |
