Soor is my overlay with ebuilds of packages I find currently interesting.

Its currently hosting, among other things:

qt-copy enabled Qt3/4 - discuss here: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-641645.html

Newspr enabled packages for LCD monitors - discuss here: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-511382.html

You can browse the overlay here: http://repo.or.cz/w/gentoo-soor-overlay.git

And sync using git://repo.or.cz/gentoo-soor-overlay.git or http://repo.or.cz/r/gentoo-soor-overlay.git
Newspr/lcd filtering/ubuntu patched font libs:
media-libs/fontconfig - ubuntu patches USE
media-libs/freetype - ubuntu patches USE
x11-libs/cairo - newspr patch USE
x11-libs/libXft - newspr patch USE

Qt-copy:
x11-libs/qt - 3 and 4
x11-libs/qt-assistant
x11-libs/qt-core
x11-libs/qt-dbus
x11-libs/qt-gui
x11-libs/qt-opengl
x11-libs/qt-phonon
x11-libs/qt-qt3support
x11-libs/qt-script
x11-libs/qt-sql
x11-libs/qt-svg
x11-libs/qt-test
x11-libs/qt-webkit
x11-libs/qt-xmlpatterns

Other packages:
app-editors/emacs-git - live, but from git mirrored tree, works better with update-live-ebuilds
app-misc/gnome-commander - release from developer's site, and live-svn
app-office/lyx - release using system boost and with optional pch, and live svn
app-pda/rbutil - release, and live-svn from rockbox site.
dev-lang/gnu-smalltalk - release with USE for the experimental JIT compiler and pre-emptive concurrency.
dev-util/stgit - new release not in main tree
games-fps/alephone - release with speex 1.2 patch
games-util/smithy - live-svn
kde-misc/krusader - live-svn for KDE-4 release users
media-libs/libvorbis - release with AoTuV tunings.
net-im/skype: skype-2 with proper qt4.4 DEPEND and USE-check support.
net-libs/webkitgtk: nightly ebuild.
net-news/liferea - unstable release, with webkit backend option.
net-p2p/nicotine+ - live-svn
net-www/mozplugger - new release not in tree
sys-apps/OptimizationKit - release from developer's site.
virtual/emacs - modded to support emacs-git

29-04-2008: added libvorbis 1.2.0 with AoTuVb5.5, emacs from git, OptimizationKit.
30-04-2008: added built_with_use checks to ubuntu/newspr packages.
05-05-2008: added live svn LyX.
07-05-2008: added release rbutil. fixed qt-4.4.0_rc1. added fontconfig libtool-2.2 patch from main tree.
10-05-2008: added unstable release liferea.
11-05-2008: added nightly webkitgtk.
13-05-2008: clisp 2.44.1 in main tree now.

A pretty n00bish question... I want to use the Newspr/lcd filtering/ubuntu patched font libs from the overlay, but Qt from portage. How can I configure portage to ignore the Qt builds from the overlay?

Hmmm... good question. I honestly don't know, I haven't used portage since late 2006 ..

I'd say mask em. Dunno how to mask them effectively with portage though, also haven't used it in ages. In paludis i'd use group/package::overlay.

I'm not ready to switch to Paludis yet, so I simply deleted those ebuilds and added them to a .gitignore file.

Good idea. I don't think there's any other way of handling it with portage/pkgcore.

I just realised we're all retarded

The ebuilds are exactly the same if you turn off the qt-copy USE-flag ...

Well, the real reason why I wanted to get rid of those ebuilds was that portage was complaining of some dependencies... different Qt versions. It doesn't happen now, after deleting the ebuilds...

I have added opera to mozplugger's || ( ) browser dep block, as per https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=168354

It hasn't been tested against 9.27, so I'd appreciate some feedback if someone tries that :)

I've also added a USE flag to build LyX in monolithic mode. This is similar to the kdeenablefinal flag from KDE3, and incurs the same heavy memory use penalty as a trade-off for a (possibly) faster compile time. It appears to use 512mb of ram per -j, you have been warned :)

Just a friendly warning that qt-4.4.0_rc1 on my overlay is currently broken - I'm fixing it but it was taking too long via remote overlay so I'm using local cloning right now.

It should be fixed later today, depending on how many times I have re-extract in order to figure out which subset of the qt-copy patches applies to which split ebuild.

Doing it "right" is actually fairly tricky and interesting :)

edit: there. 4.4.0_rc1 with qt-copy done 'proper' ;)
4.4.0 final patchset is ready, so as soon as they hit portage I'll have that too.

sorry guys, I'm used to svn:
Code:
git clone http://repo.or.cz/gentoo-soor-overlay.git
Initialized empty Git repository in /root/soor-overlay/gentoo-soor-overlay/.git/
Cannot get remote repository information.
Perhaps git-update-server-info needs to be run there?

how do I use git?

git clone <address> should work, host seems to be down for maintenance ...

@mbar: dude, you forgot the /r/ cause you went over the http, it should be
Quote:

http://repo.or.cz/r/gentoo-soor-overlay.git
the server is fine on, I've just synced.

@creidiki: I've had the autoconf issue with fontconfig. The solution is to apply fontconfig-2.5.0-libtool-2.2.patch from the tree and then it will build; I've manage to recompile all of the newspr stuff: fontconfig, freetype., libXft and cairo.

And thanks again for the overlay :D

Yah. I need to get off my butt and apply any libtool/autoHELL patches that have accumulated. I'll do it now ... maybe 8)

edit: Mk, the libtool-2.2 patch is finally in - hey, better late than never right?

Can anyone with KDE4 check if mozplugger from my overlay works with krusader-4?

Also Opera 9.27 if anyone uses that, I know it runs on 9.50.

Thanks? :)

Perhaps you used the wrong -p or --strip option?

Is there an easy way to fix this?

Bugger. Ehm. Hmmmm. Ok, until I find the time to edit the ebuild myself, do this.

Find this section:

Code:
   # Apply QT Copy patches:
   if use qt-copy; then
      EPATCH_MULTI_MSG="Applying QT-copy patches ..." \
         EPATCH_FORCE="yes" EPATCH_SUFFIX="" epatch \
         "${WORKDIR}"/qt-copy-${PV}-patches-${QT_COPY_SNAP}
   fi

And add a line that goes:

Code:
EPATCH_EXCLUDE="the_patch_that_fails.patch" \

above the 3-liner.

I /think/ EPATCH_EXCLUDE is the right variable, I don't have a linux-capable pc in front of me right now - or for the next couple of days for that matter.

Can anyone with KDE4 check if mozplugger from my overlay works with krusader-4?

Also Opera 9.27 if anyone uses that, I know it runs on 9.50.

Thanks? :)

are you still interested?

It hasn't been updated for a month. media-libs/freetype has just been bumped to 2.3.6 in portage due to security issues, but soor-overlay's version is still the vulnerable 2.3.5-r2, so those using the improved subpixel LCD rendering stuff from this overlay may have a problem if this overlay isn't updated any more.
