1. When I try to mount my boot partition (hda1) I get the error below:
this is under the root account, and it still boots off of it no problems. It is an ext3 file system, along with my root drive (hda3).
Code:

bash-2.05a# mount /dev/hda1 /boot
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hda1,
or too many mounted file systems
bash-2.05a#
bash-2.05a#

2. When I try to run "gnome-session" from the prompt it gives me this:
Code:

Failed to run gconf-sanity-check-2: Failed to execute child process "gconf-sanity-check-2" (No such file or directory)

however I can still run "gdm" and it will load gnome fine, BTW this is gnome 2.0

3. What do you guys recommend for a GUI based opennap client, I hear that xnap is good but its not on the portage tree, can anyone recommend one on the portage tree?

Thanks in advance!
Dustin

Have you tried

Code:
bash-2.05a# mount -t ext3 /dev/hda1 /boot

I assume you have ext3 copiled in the kernel.

What is the file system for your /dev/hda1? It appears that you didn't build that into your kernel. The fact that you can still boot from it suggests that you built an ext3 partition, but only have ext2 in the kernel.

I just saw napster listed in the portage tree I did not know that meant opennap, I assumed it was an outdated napster client.

I find that not using the flag will still mount the partition until I fail to unmount cleanly before a
shutdown. Then I get an unrecognized header message. I think it's trying to mount it as an
ext2 partition and so is unable to recover the journal.
