|

First of all I want to apologise if I'm writing this topic i the wrong forum. I wasn't entirely sure if I should place it here or en "Kernel & Hardware"
I'm having a bit of a annoying problem with my graphics card (NVidia GeForce Go 7600 - 512MB). Whenever I try to use the NVidia display drivers with my x-server, it causes the x-server to load with a black screen. I know the x-server is running, because I can hear the sounds from KDE starting (regredably i emerged KDE with the "arts" USE-falg).
If I change the driver in xorg.conf from "nvidia" to "nv", KDE starts w/o any problems, but it tends to be kinda slow when using some applications, and I'm unable to use any GLX applications.
It's really starting to annoy me, since I'm now unable to play Vendetta-online
I hope someone will be able to help me figuring out what the problem is.
If any additional information about my system is needed, please do write so. I didn't know which information would be needed, since I'm getting no error messages or anything.
Best regards

A good place to start would be dmesg to make sure the module was inserted without errors, then check /var/log/Xorg.0.log to see if Xorg is having any problems with it. |
