I have a very wierd problem ... I am running KDE 3.0.1 (updated from 3.0.0) German. On the normal text console I hit the AltGr+q key combination (on a German keyboard that creates the @ character) and everything is fine. If I do the same under KDE (either console or any other input field) normal German characters are working (like ä or ö), but @ is not displayed. On Konsole the little system error bell appears. Any ideas?
TIA, MadEagle |

Possible, but where should I start to look? I am sure it is right there before my eyes, I am just to blocked to see it.

This question has already answered in the German Forum.
The reason could be two things: ISO-8859-1 fonts don't have the Euro character - use ISO-8859-15 fonts instead. You have to change the locale settings for the console too. Check out this thread:

I had the same problem with my mac keyboard.
Emerge xkeycaps, play around with it and you should be able to write a xmodmap file with an entry like:
.... (shortened for the sake of space)
keycode 0x1A = 1 exclam exclamdown at
.... (and/or)
keycode 0x2D = l L at Ograve
...
so i have the possibilities of ALT-SHIFT-1 and ALTGR-l to get an at sign.
You can have any sign of your font on arbitrary keys!
Good luck, miez _________________ #=======================#
