hi,
is anybody working with a 2 or 4 CPUs mips system ?
if so, how fine is the Symmetric Multi Processor with these systems ?
i read about a linux.2.4.x that in 2001 booted an 128 processor Origin 2000
http://www.linux-mips.org/wiki/IP27
I know Origin 300, Origin 3000 and Octane systems are architecturally similar.
I own an octane2 equipped with 1xR12000 that I want to replace with a 2xR14000 cpu module
the right question is: how fine will be the SMP with 2XR14000 mips on my octane2 ? |

I have an Octane with 2*R10k CPU:s that does SMP without any trouble.
I also have an Origin 2000 with 16 R10k:s and 16 R12k:s that boots, but runs extremely slowly (see my post to linux-mips for more information). I'm looking for time to set it up behind a firewall, and a kernel hacker willing to take a look at it and see what's wrong. |
