Hi again,

after i upgraded the kernel from 2.6.23 to 2.6.24 with the same ".config" i can't access usb-storage-devices any more!
First i thought this is because of the masked kernel, but now, with the released 2.6.24-rc3-kernel, the error keeps on...

The problem seems to be NLS-related while mounting. Previously, on my utf-8 only system, i got the nls-utf8 module build in.
After the first occurance of this behaviour, i tried to compile it as module in the hope, this could help the usb-storage module, but did not.

Dmesg says:
Code:
usb-storage: device found at 3
usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning

As you can imagine, i definetly got this module:

I have about the same messages:
Code:
ISO 9660 Extensions: Microsoft Joliet Level 3
Unable to load NLS charset UTF-8

I'm quite sure that UTF-8 is enabled in the kernel, but in my case filesysten gets mounted correctly.
Code:
zcat /proc/config.gz | grep UTF
CONFIG_NLS_DEFAULT="UTF-8"
CONFIG_NLS_UTF8=y
