Hi everybody,
I am wandering about gentoo-sources 2.6.24 getting stable? Is there any information why it takes so long?
I want to use cpuidle on amd64 with my core2duo
Greetings

It is due to the 2.6.24 regression tracking bug
If you want to use it, add the appropriate entry in /etc/portage/package.keywords . Don't use ACCEPT_KEYWORDS, its been deprecated[/bug] for a long, long time |

Hi, had a unexpected lockup yesterday with linux-2.6.24-gentoo-r3 and it does not power off the system when I shutdown, reverted back to:
localhost 2.6.23-gentoo-r5 #1 SMP Sun Jan 6 23:35:39 GMT 2008 i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU @ 2.40GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux and everything is nice and stable again, could not find any reason for the lockup the system just froze! nothing logged in messages file, keyboard dead just had to do a hardreset. _________________ If all else fails RTFM. |

why not ACCEPT_KEYWORDS? if I want an unstable system Im not going to put *everything* in package.keywords
edit: btw, that bug is related to an OLD ati-drivers release..if you dont use it, dont care about it |

The kernel 2.6.24 will be stable when the profile 2008.0 will be out. There was a annonce about that the order day. For the record, they expect to release the 2.6.24 on the Gentoo minimal CD too if there is no problem. And if we are not lucky, we will have a 2.6.23 instead on the minimal Gentoo 2008.0 CD. |
