I have a amd single core system (3200) and will be upgrading to a dual core (4400). Will the programmes work ok as they are or will I have to re-emerge all packages with a modified make, conf (I've forgotten for the moment what the change would be with a dual core).

Thanks in advance.

Richard

They'll work just fine as is, but you should set MAKEOPTS to -j3 or higher to speed up builds in future, and you can probably add -msse3 to your CFLAGS too.

Also be sure to recompile your kernel with SMP enabled or it won't utilize your second core.
