|

Hi all!
How easy is it to turn a Lenovo 3000 V200 (with Vista business installed) into a dual-boot machine? Preferably without damaging/removing any hidden system/restore partitions (I remember from previous experiences that Thinkpads always had these...)
Anyone done this already? _________________ Greetz,

First problem: neither the wired nor the wireless network interface are recognized by the livecd-i686-installer-2007.0
According to this page, the wired interface is a Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet and the wireless a IWL4965AGN?
How should I proceed? _________________ Greetz,

it isn't so bad .. espesially if you can get your hands on acronis disk director suite .. its not the only way .. but its one of the cleanest ways to size partitions etc ... all around a great program for harddrive maintenance
in regards to your first problem: if it were me i would do the full install through the liveCD as is [basically just copying the liveCD to your harddrive]... or maybe if i had the access somewhere else i would download the updated stage[whatever] and portage ... the point is copy the livecd kernel etc through their various installer's... then try to get an ethernet port working ..
if i am not mistaken .. the wireless should work with iwlwifi and iwl4965-ucode download the ebuilds on another machine or on your windows partition and transfer then to your linux system .. and then just compile ..
http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/faq_drivers.php#tg3 has some info about your wired connection .. so you need the tg3 driver compiled in your kernel to get your wired working ... .. just make sure your model number is here .. http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/downloaddrivers.php
also .. try running lscpi and see what that says .. may give you a little more specific information ...
sorry so sloppy .. this is my last post for the night
hope it helps!! _________________ everything is a function of time.

Hmm, a 'modprobe tg3' didn't help... I'll reboot the laptop with the livecd and return later with some lspci info _________________ Greetz,

Hi all!
I get this message when I look at the HD of my Lenovo 3000 V200 laptop. This is no doubt the system restore partition that Lenovo put on the drive.
Is this message anything I should worry about? _________________ Greetz,
