I just installed Gentoo (again) and went ahead and emerged gnome-light before getting X setup. In doing so X pulled in all the modules X supports (didn't setup the Video card, input devices, etc in make.conf) How do I go about getting a list of the modules that were installed so I can tailor it to what I need after the fact? Would the following work? Do an emerge -p xorg without specifying these variables in make.conf then doing an emerge -p xorg with them specified and removing the differences? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

--depclean should capture the unrequired modules/drivers after you have re-emerged xorg-server & company after setting the variables properly.

yeah, I wanted to not have to re-emerge all of xorg.....but if I have to I have to.... so after setting the variables I would just do
Code:

emerge --reinstall xorg
emerge --depclean

what do you mean by "xorg"?

All that you should have to re-emerge is the xorg-server and possible mesa packages, and you can just use `emerge -uDN world` to do that for you.

Just make sure to do a --pretend run before the real --depclean, so you know and are happy with what will be removed.

You didn't install the xorg-x11 package, did you?

I just installed gnome-light, that in turn installed the necessary x packages. I am not in front of the box right now so I can't tell you exactly what was installed.
