Just wanted to give a big thank you to Donnie Berkholz for all the updates on the gentoo home page. The news updates and invitations for users to get involved help make the gentoo project feel alive again.

And a big thank you also to all the other devs who I know are working hard behind the scenes (and always have been) to keep gentoo moving forward.

I love gentoo (and feel embarassed about my recent flirtation with kubuntu  ).

Gentoo understands it's only human to check out other distros, but it still may refuse to *cough* emerge for you just now.

You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoy it. Any other suggestions you have for improving our public relations?

http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/pr/roadmap.xml <- this looks a bit dusty ;-)

But some presentation showing:
- what the gentoo project is
- why it is important
- what makes gentoo unique
...

Only can we keep the small updates coming when the GMN is up and running? It'd be cool if devs knew they could just add a snippet whenever they wanted to tell users of a forthcoming fix/new feature/ABI breakage/need for help. That would make the project feel more responsive, as well as giving devs a direct line to their fans ;)

Thanks from me too, anyhow.

I'd like to chime in and add my thanks for your efforts too, it is very refreshing to see current articles posted posted on the front page. And, although I have become used to keeping up with what current by browsing the forums and dev and user lists, I believe that the website is extremely important in influencing how Gentoo is perceived by the world at large. One thing that you might consider adding along with GMN to make it more interesting is a monthly poll, perhaps restricting voting to users who participate on the forums to cut down on outside interference.

I also think this would be a great idea!

And big thanks to Donnie!

Agreed; thank you very much Donnie for your hard work. Though Donnie's work is not the only work being done, the fruits of his labour were mentioned in the News section of DistroWatch. :)
